Bellevue West girls basketball is heading to state for the fourth consecutive season after a 49-35 win Thursday over Lincoln Southwest in the District A-4 final.

Highlights: The Thunderbirds held Lincoln Southwest to one field goal during the third quarter to overcome a 25-24 deficit at halftime.

Chloe Akin-Otiko scored the T-birds’ first eight points of the third quarter, including two breakaway layups off steals. Laura Jurek and Akili Felici then combined to make four free throws and Mia Felici made a runner from the baseline as the Bellevue West lead grew to 38-25. The T-birds would lead 40-28 going into the fourth quarter.

Bellevue West controlled the game from the free throw line, making 24 of 31 attempts while holding the Silver Hawks to six attempts.

Akin-Otiko scored Bellevue West's first 11 points of the game, including a 3-point play to give the T-birds an 11-9 lead.

Top Performers: Akin-Otiko scored a game-high 26 points, including making 10 of 14 free throw attempts. Akili Felici added seven points.

“I think our intensity in the second half was just better. We went in there and got after them pretty good and we were able to get it done in the second."
