Papillion-La Vista plated four runs in the top of the first in Saturday’s district A-2 title game against Elkhorn South.
However, the host Storm scored the final nine runs of the game to earn a 9-4 victory and end Papio’s season with a 17-12 record.
Logan Anderson drove in two runs for the Monarchs in the first innings with Cole Whitehill and Nick Barnett each adding RBI hits.
The Monarchs advanced to the district finals with a 10-3 win over Burke in the semifinals. Papio scored two in the sixth and five in the seventh to run away with the win.
Nick Barnett hit two home runs for the Monarchs, including a grand slam in the seventh inning to clinch the win. Conner Barnett added three hits and two RBIs with Nick Ripa adding a pair of RBIs.
Hayden Bahl scattered five hits in 6 2/3 innings of work for the win.
• Bellevue East and Bellevue West both lost in the District A-5 semifinals Saturday.
The Chieftains were edged 4-3 by top-seeded Creighton Prep. The Junior Jays hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to break a 3-all tie and proved to be the game-winner.
Joey Skoff and Ty Chudomelka each had an RBI extra-base hit for East.
The No. 3 T-birds were beat 6-2 by No. 2 Grand Island. The Islanders took a 6-0 lead after three innings and West couldn’t recover. Jaxon Jelkin pitched four scoreless innings of relief for West. Treyce Machacek, Connor Schneider and Jackson Allred each had two hits for the T-birds.
• Millard South ended Papio South’s season with a 6-0 win in the District A-3 semifinals Saturday.
Jack Bland recorded the only Titan hit in the loss.
Papio South earned a 6-1 win over Omaha South in Friday’s first round to advance to the semis. The Titans broke a 1-all tie with a four-run fourth inning.
Eli Foresman pitched a complete game, striking out seven and scattering five hits for the win. Trenton Brehm drove in two runs while Austin Sides added two hits for the Titans. Bodi Wallar, Grant Oseka and Daniel Shuhmacher each added RBIs.
• Platteview and Ralston were both downed in the semifinals of the District B-1 semifinals.
Mount Michael posted a 10-0 win over the third-seeded Trojans. Grant Thomas and Jordan Mathewson had a hit apiece for the Trojans.
No. 1 seed Waverly downed Ralston 11-3 in the semifinals after the Rams led 2-0 after three innings. Nolan Sailors, Kyler Corcoran and Michael Heig each drove in a run for Ralston with Kaleb Holm adding two hits.
Ralston topped Branched Oak 16-12 in the first round to move to the semis. The Rams scored three runs or more in four innings.
Holm, Darrien Costello and Jahrran Paces each drove in three runs with Sailors and Christian Berry each adding two RBIs. Corcoran had two doubles while Sailors went 4 for 4.
• Hastings downed Gross 13-1 in the District B-5 semifinals to end the Cougars’ season.
Hastings scored the first 10 runs of the game on its way to the win. Ben Deiber had two hits to lead the Cougars.
Gross beat Fort Calhoun 3-0 Friday to advance to the semifinals. Nolan Lewandowski pitched a complete-game two hitter, striking out 11 to lead the Cougars.
Garrett Hunter drove in two runs with Ryan Pearson adding two hits.
Bellevue East 3, Millard West 1 — After both teams scored in the fourth, the Chieftains scored the go-ahead and game-winning run in the sixth inning on the road.
Jimmie Lee and Skoff tallied a hit and RBI each, while starting pitcher Ethan Fritz pitched a complete game allowing one run on four hits while striking out five.
Bellevue East 5, Lincoln North Star 4 — East responded in the bottom of the inning at home when the Gators tallied runs on the scoreboard. The Chieftains held a 4-3 lead after the first inning before each team scored a run in the fourth.
Paul Schuyler III and Skoff each tallied two hits with Jason Bishop, Fritz, Brandon Sippel and Stevins Spurgeon Jr. each notching a RBI.
Norris 5, Gretna 2 — Blake Grimm doubled and walked twice, while Coby Hardies and Bryant Jeary notched a RBI.
Waverly 11, Gross 7 — Lewandowski totaled three hits, three runs and a RBI and Nate Fiscus tallied two hits and two RBIs.
Gross 12, Arlington 3 — Fiscus notched three hits and three RBIs, while Charles Monico scored three runs to go along with two doubles.
Max Peters pitched three innings of relief allowing one run on two hits.
Gross 11, Bryan 4 — Monico, Lewandowski and Fiscus each tallied two hits, including a homer by Monico, with Nate Brennan, Deiber and Trystan Soby tallying two RBIs each for Gross.
Bryan’s Jack Wiebelhaus hit a two-run double and scored with Owen Kaminski adding a RBI.
Elkhorn South 20, Bryan 0 — Wiebelhaus tallied the lone hit for the Bears.
Papillion-La Vista 11, Papio South 1 — Sides led South with two hits with Shuhmacher adding an RBI.
Papio’s Coby Griffith doubled twice while Ben Beaudin and Nick Barnett tallied four and three RBIs, respectively. Zach Colbert pitched six innings allowing one unearned run on three hits for the Monarchs.
Ralston 15, Auburn 3 — A 10-run third inning provided plenty of cushion for the Rams. Zane Harris tallied two hits, two runs scored and five RBIs, including a homer, while Sailors and Costello notched three hits, a RBI and scored two runs each.
Burke 4, Bellevue West 1 — After leading 1-0, the Bulldogs totaled four unanswered in the fifth and sixth innings combined. Caleb Lemon, Cam Madsen and Eric Anderson tallied the three West hits.
Wahoo 12, Platteview 11 — Wahoo scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off victory. Jordan Mathewson hit a homer and scored three runs, while Gage Graham and Caden Johnson tallied two RBIs each.
