For the third-straight year, Bellevue’s Greg Dowe won the City of Papillion Mayor’s Triathlon at Walnut Creek Sunday.

Dowe, 32, finished in one hour and five seconds to edge runner-up Eric Moser of Omaha by eight seconds. Dowe ended with the fourth-best swim time, fifth-best bike time and second-best running time.

Moser finished with the best time in swimming, second in biking and third in running, where Dowe made the difference.

Rounding out the top five was Tyler Byrd of Bennington in third, Andy Cayer of Cheyenne, Wyo., in fourth and Justin Morar of Omaha in fifth.

Camila Rutford of Omaha placed first in the women’s division with a finish of 1:10:04, good enough for 10th overall. She placed fourth in swimming and had the best time in biking and running among women.

Rounding out the top 5 among the women was Samantha Scheffler of Hancock, Iowa, in second place, Gina Samland of Omaha in third, Erin Hall of La Vista in fourth and Mary Byrd of Bennington in fifth place.

Out of all the participants, 41 were from the ITG area. Out of the 41, 22 were from Papillion, five from La Vista, two from Ralston, eight from Bellevue, one from Gretna and three from Springfield.

The City of Papillion Mayor’s Triathlon featured a 500-meter swim, 13-mile bike and 5k run. The event took place Sunday morning.

Female age group winners: 15-19 — Jacqueline McCullough, Papillion. 20-29 — Rutford, Omaha. 30-39 — Scheffler, Hancock. 40-49 — Theresa McClatchey, Plattsmouth. 50-59 — Samland, Omaha. 60-69 — Kristine Story, Omaha. 70-99 — Jane Connell, Shenandoah.

Male age group winners: 15-19 — Ryan Olson, Papillion. 20-29 — Moser, Omaha. 30-39 — Dowe, Bellevue. 40-49 — Tim Lavington, Greenwood. 50-59 — Michael Nielsen, Springfield. 60-69 — Lincoln Murdoch, Omaha. 70-79 — Mike Manna, Omaha. 80-99 — Ken Deman, Omaha.
