Chase Norblade of Papio South avoids a tackle while carrying the ball for South team during Saturday’s 61st Annual Shrine Bowl in Kearney.

Shane Dailey Jr. scored a touchdown while helping the North team to a historic win in Saturday’s Shrine Bowl.

The North defeated the South 32-10 in the 61st version of the all-star game, which was held at UNK’s Cope Stadium. It marked the largest victory for the North since 1962.

The North took a 12-0 lead on a pair of rushing touchdowns by Cooper Jewett (Elkhorn South) and Trenton Harbur (Gothenburg). A long passing touchdown pass by the South in the second quarter cut the North lead to 12-7.

Dailey extended the North’s lead by taking a 15-yard pass from quarterback Carter Terry (Grand Island Northwest) into the endzone for a TD, putting North ahead 18-7.

The South team added a field goal to make it 18-10 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, the North team put up two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Alex Rodgers (Roncalli) caught a TD from Sid deMayo (Mount Michael) for the first TD with Jewett running in the final score.

Dailey led the North team in receiving by hauling in five passes for 65 yards and one TD.

Two former Papio South players played on the South team. Chase Norblade led the South in receptions with three, totaling 27 yards while adding two carries. He also made two unassisted tackles on defense.

Mike McClanahan was in on two tackles while playing in the secondary for the South.
