Despite seeing its 13-game win streak snapped, the Bellevue baseball continued its hot play with four wins on the week.

The Bruins beat Morningside at home April 3 to open the week before heading north for a four-game series against Valley City State, where they won three of four.

The Bruins are 22-14 overall, 11-1 in North Star Athletic Association play, through 36 games after starting the season 7-13.

Bellevue 5, Morningside 4 — After scoring three in the first, Morningside tied the game in the third inning before the Bruins took back a two-run lead in the bottom of the inning. Morningside added one in the fifth but Bellevue held on for the win.

Riley Baasch recorded two hits and three RBIs with Cody Banks adding an RBI of his own. Derek Browne earned the win with four innings of relief, allowing no runs on three hits.

Bellevue 13, Valley City State 0 — The Bruins scored four runs in the fifth and ninth innings and scored three runs in the eighth for the rout.

JT Patterson totaled two hits and five RBIs, while Travis Tanaka added three RBIs.

Stephen Knapp recorded his sixth victory of the season with a complete-game shutout, scattering four hits and striking out 10.

Valley City State 2, Bellevue 1 — The Vikings took a two-run lead in the fifth before Bellevue could only muster one run in seeing its winning streak snap.

Cody Banks hit a homer in the seventh, while Kory Longaker added the only other Bruin hit, while starting pitcher Anthony Alvarado pitched six innings in the loss.

Bellevue 22, Valley City State 3 — A 12-run second inning was more than enough for the Bruins, who belted five home runs in the win.

Longaker tallied five RBIs, while Baasch and Wataru Kazama each added four of their own and Tanka notched three.

Mitch Savine earned the win with five innings pitched, allowing two earned runs on five hits.

Bellevue 11, Valley City State 8 — The Bruins scored at least two runs in four of the seven innings. Patterson tallied three home runs while racking up eight RBIs.

Longaker added five hits, including two doubles, and three runs cored.

• The Bellevue softball team finished 1-3 in a rough series against ninth-ranked Valley City State in North Dakota over the weekend.

The Bruins fall to 25-15 on the season.

Valley City State 9, Bellevue 6 — A five-run third inning was too much for Bellevue to comeback from. Emily Rochford tallied two RBIs and a homer, while Erin Sharpe, Maricela Egan and Ashley Young added two hits each with Sharpe homering.

Bellevue 7, Valley City State 4 — After the Vikings scored three in the third, but the Bruins responded with five in the fourth.

Ellie Bliemeister, Young and Rochford each had two hits with Bliemeister and Sharpe hitting homers. Brieanna Brock earned her ninth victory of the season with a complete-game effort, allowing three earned runs.

Valley City State 2, Bellevue 1 — The Vikings scored the game-winning run in extra innings. Rochford notched the lone RBI for Bellevue and Young tallied three hits.

Monique Ashley pitched 7 2/3 innings allowing two runs on six hits.

Valley City State 12, Bellevue 0 — Sharpe notched two of the four Bruin hits. Randi Henry and Kaitlyn Kinman added the other two hits.
