Sarpy County Museum volunteers stayed busy Saturday afternoon as families descended on the museum to enjoy pie and ice cream while boosting the museum’s finances during its annual Pie and Ice Cream fundraiser.

At $3 for a generous slice of pie and a large scoop of ice cream, there was no shortage of takers during the event, which lasted from 2 to 4 p.m.

The event included access to the museum and the ongoing Great Sarpy County Quilt Exhibit, another of the museum’s annual events, which features more than 70 quilts drawn from across Sarpy County.

The pie judging contest was won by David Fields of Belllevue, whose strawberry-rhubarb pie topped the field.

The pies were donated by all three Sarpy County Village Inn restaurants, Baker’s supermarket, the Downtown Coffee Shop, The Special restaurant, Sam’s Club and Gerda’s German Restaurant & Bakery in Omaha.
