A Bellevue mayor and City Council pay raises. Nobody should ever get rich holding down either of these positions, but nor should elected officials in the state’s third largest city work for pennies. These aren’t full-time jobs, but any effective council person or mayor makes themselves available to the taxpayers at a phone call notice — or at least they should. And for that reason, a pay hike that is long overdue is a good thing at this point in time.
B Public pools. The city has done a nice job with improvements to Cascio and Gilbert pools, and the splash pads at Hastings Banner and Everett parks are great amenities for residents, but the city really needs to jump into the deep end and get a pool or splash pad constructed in southwest Bellevue.
D People complaining about the heat. Were you not around seven months ago? Cutting grass — even in 90 degree temperatures — beats clearing the driveway of snow.
