A+ Eugene Curtin. This week marks the end of your two decades career at the Leader, and our newspaper and those who read it are thankful for the years we’ve had together. The Leader has had some extremely talented writers on our staff over the years, but I’d be hard-pressed to find anyone better. As the City Hall and Sarpy County reporter, Eugene has had his fingers on the pulse of this city and this county perhaps better than anyone else in our communities. Though many controversial and difficult stories have passed his way over the years, his writing always reflected balance and fairness — hallmarks of a good journalist. Additionally, Eugene has penned memorable feature stories about the people and places that make up Bellevue, plus has been our go-to guy to produce wonderful coverage of the Bellevue Little Theatre. But here’s the kicker - for all us who worked side by side with him all these years, I can tell you he’s a better man and a better friend than a fine journalist. Best of luck to you Eugene in your next endeavor at Creighton University.
