When Dr. Gregg Hoogeveen attended a Halloween party at what once was Varieties Bar & Grill, he never thought that location would play a role in his future.
“Little did I know 10 years later I’d be tearing that building down,” Hoogeveen said.
Hoogeveen founded Hoogeveen Chiropractic Wellness Center, a chiropractic and wellness center, in 1999 in the Bellevue Health Center. In 2012, the center moved to its current location, 1301 Fort Crook Road S.
This year, Hoogeveen Chiropractic is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
For 20 years, Hoogeveen, alongside his family, has served the Bellevue community, and he said he is happy to call it home.
Hoogeveen, originally from a small town in Wisconsin, moved to Bellevue to be closer to family.
“This is the first place that really felt like home,” he said. “We love the community.”
Hoogeveen Chiropractic is a family business. Hoogeveen practices alongside his son, Dr. Adam Hoogeveen, his daughter Dr. Brooke Harre and son-in-law Dr. Logan Harre. His wife, Sue, is the office manager.
While some people find it difficult to work with family members, Hoogeveen said he can’t imagine working with anyone else.
“When people ask me how I can work with my family, I ask ‘How can you not?’” he said. “There’s no one who wants me to see my children succeed more than I do, and there’s no one who wants me to succeed more than they do.”
After numerous patients and years of operation, Hoogeveen said he and his family have made strong ties in the community.
To celebrate 20 years in Bellevue, Hoogeveen Chiropractic will celebrate their patients with raffle prizes, T-shirts and food throughout the month of July.
There will also be a ribbon cutting Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the office.
“We just want to give back to our loyal patients,” Hoogeveen said.
While this year marks the 20th anniversary of Hoogeveen Chiropractic, Hoogeveen said he is looking forward to the many years to come.
“When I think of Bellevue, I think of home,” he said.
