The annual Avenue of Flags along Bellevue streets display may look a little different this year due to damage caused by the 2019 flood.

The Greater Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce lost all of its flags and equipment in a building on Harlan Lewis Road, damaged by flooding.

The flags were not covered by insurance.

According to a chamber press release, 125 flags, poles and brackets need to be replaced at a cost of approximately $6,000.

Each flag and corresponding hardware cost $65.

The flags are typically displayed from Memorial Day through Labor Day along Galvin Road, Mission Avenue and Franklin Street.

The Bellevue Economic Enhancement Foundation, in partnership with the Bellevue chamber and the City of Bellevue is asking the community to help replace the flags.

Faith Morrison, vice president of membership development, said the chamber has been putting word out about fundraising to local businesses that have worked with the Avenue of Flags in the past.

Donations can be made by cash, checks or credit card.

Make checks payable to: Bellevue Economic Enhancement Foundation, 1036 Bruin Blvd. Suite 119, Bellevue, NE 68005.
