The No More Empty Pots food hub, a space focused on job training, food waste reduction, healthy food access and much more, will celebrate its grand opening Aug. 12. 

The hub, at 8501 N. 30th St., started as an idea in 2010 to create more support for urban agriculture and provide kitchen space for food entrepreneurs. In June, the project will be finished. It includes Cups Cafe, which is open to the public and provides barista training and a place for food entrepreneurs to test products before opening to the larger market. 

A business incubator helps small businesses organize; a kids kitchen gives hands-on instruction to kids and families; a roof garden focuses on agricultural and food production education and opportunities; and commercial kitchen space, available for rent by the hour, gives food entrepreneurs the chance to start their business. The kitchens are also used as part of a culinary workforce training program. 

The celebration will run from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the hub, and is open to the public. Free tickets can be reserved at bit.ly/gofoodhub. For more information on the event, call 402-502-1642.
