The Drover has been closed since a fire at the restaurant in December.

The Drover, whose owners had hoped to reopen the restaurant in April after a December fire, has pushed back its opening date back to mid-2019.

In a Facebook post, the restaurant said construction in the restaurant is progressing.

“We are looking forward to again satisfying all of your favorite ‘whiskey soaked’ cravings coming mid-2019,” the post reads in part.

The restaurant, near 72nd Street and Mercy Road, caught fire Dec. 26. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within about 20 minutes, but it caused significant damage, mostly in the kitchen area, where the fire started.

The fire was accidental.
