Brisket with coleslaw, fried okra and cornbread at Fat BBQ Shack in Omaha. Fat BBQ Shack won best brisket in The World-Herald's 2015 Food Prowl.

Fat Shack Barbecue, which was one of the winners of The World-Herald’s 2015 barbecue food prowl, has closed.

The restaurant’s owners said on Facebook that they plan to move to Oceanside, California, and reopen the restaurant there. The phone number has been disconnected.

Fat Shack began as a food truck and transitioned to a bricks-and-mortar restaurant at 7419 N. 30th St.

The restaurant took home several Omaha’s Choice awards for its barbecue, including for its brisket, which the Food Prowl team named the best in Omaha.
