Oasis Falafel adds evening hours

Oasis Falafel is adding evening hours.

The shop, at 1620 Harney St., will now serve dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The restaurant’s new hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Ribstock returns this summer

The seventh annual Ribstock is back this summer and will take place July 27 in Stinson Park.

The event, which includes loads of barbecue and live music, will update its list of vendors and give more details in the coming months; the event will run from noon to 10 p.m.

Class explores history of salt

“Salts of the Earth,” a new class at Metropolitan Community College’s culinary institute, will explore the history of salt, including the times when it was used as a currency around the world.

As part of the $29 class, students will get to taste a wide variety of salt and learn about its origins, health benefits and culinary uses. The class takes place May 11 at the Highlander Accelerator, 2112 N. 30th St.
