Austin Johnson

Mark your calendars: Block 16 has three original pop-ups planned for this spring, including the return of Omaha native Austin Johnson, whose former spot, Frenchie, in Paris, recently received a Michelin star.

Johnson will return to his hometown for a one-night-only dinner on June 9. Johnson has been traveling the world before his next venture.

On May 19, Block 16 will host chef Nick Baker, who will take over the kitchen and serve his original takes on Nebraska cuisine, including house-made bierocks, potato salad and tenderloin sandwiches. The specials will run from 3 to 8 p.m.

And on May 25, chef Octavio Gaytan will cook a late-night “French as Fu%$” menu, featuring Frenchified takes on the classic Block 16 menu. It starts at 9 p.m. and runs until midnight.

No tickets are necessary for the May pop-ups. Tickets for the limited Austin Johnson event will go on sale soon.
