Sydow, Lily Elizabeth Jensen Edwards "Bette"

Aug 13, 1920 - Dec 29, 2015

Bette was preceded in death by husbands, Joseph K. Edwards, Dr. Donald W. Sydow, sons, Robert C. and Jeffrey C. Edwards. She is survived by son Joseph J. Edwards (Nancy), former daughter-in-law Pam Friskopp (Paul), stepdaughters, Rebecca Monroy (Al) all of Omaha, Melanie Sydow of Las Vegas and sister Alyce Marquis of Panama City, FL. She is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew (Lori), Daniel (Amber) C.J. (Sarah) and Kevin Edwards, Amy Hothan (Cole); step granddaughter Marisa (Kevin) Kuzelka and great-grandchildren, Avery, Connor, Cole, and Owen Edwards, Mya and Ali Hothan. Bette's parents came from Denmark and started a dairy farm at 72nd and Dodge, where the Crossroads is today. She drove a dairy truck at the age of 13! In payment of an overdue bill her father Ole was given a "worthless" plot of land which would become Kenny's restaurant. Bette and her husband Joe with her brother Kenny and wife Edie ran it for many years. After Joe died she continued to help run the restaurant until she married her husband Don in 1977. They traveled the world until he died in 1984. She spent the rest of her life doting on her family and friends. Everyone will remember her beautiful, ageless appearance, sparkling personality, and generosity.

In a final act which shows how she thought of everyone else ahead of herself Bette donated her body to science with the Nebraska Anatomical Society.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 3pm at the Bel Air Ballroom, just north of 122nd Ave. and Center. Memorials may be given to the Community Alliance for Mental Health or to Lauritzen Gardens.
