Spence, Ann Lindley July 5, 1934 - May 10, 2019 Born on July 5, 1934 to Ward Lindley and Vivian Lindley both deceased. Her brother, Ward Lindley Jr., is also deceased. Ann graduated from Benson High School and matriculated to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln joining the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Upon graduation Ann earned a master's degree from Cornell University and taught English at UNL until her marriage to Gene P. Spence in 1959. Both Ann and Gene worked in the title insurance business of Ward Lindley before forming SpenceLindley Abstract and Title Company in 1961. Subsequently Ann left the business to raise her sons, Paul Robertson Spence (Ronda) and David Lindley Spence. In 1975 Ann formed Spence Title Insurance Company and ran it for 18 years, becoming the closer of choice both locally and regionally. She was appointed to the Planning Department of Omaha and helped to institute a green spaces policy for new construction. She also was appointed to the Investment Counsel of Nebraska. Upon retiring, Ann and her husband traveled the world extensively. Ann enjoyed collecting native masks from faraway places in Africa, Asia, and South America. All told, they visited nearly 80 countries. Besides her business acumen, Ann was blessed with outstanding artistic ability which was reflected in every aspect of her life. She had a sense of style second to none and was a devoted wife and mother.
