Smith, Joanne Martha Age 79 Joanne peacefully passed away at Hansen House on February 17, 2016. She was born on December 10, 1936 in St Louis MO, to Rev. Oliver and Ruth Faszholz. She is survived by her brother Walter Faszholz; and her sister Eunice Brundieck, both of Omaha; her daughter, Cindy and husband David Dahlke of Edmond, OK; her son, Mark and wife Nellie Smith of Huntsville, AL; and her son, Paul and wife Vickie Smith of Council Bluffs, IA. She was also blessed with 7 wonderful grandchildren, Chris, Sarah, Rachel, Sean, Justin, Hannah, and Katie. Joanne was preceded in death by her father Oliver Faszholz; her mother Ruth Faszholz; her husband Robert Smith; her son David; her brother Victor Faszholz; and her sister Virginia Faszholz. Joanne graduated from Logan High School in 1953. After receiving an Associate Teaching Degree at Concordia College in Seward NE, she taught at Westgate IA, and later worked as an accountant for Carpentry Newspaper in Omaha. In 1957, Joanne joined in a blissful marriage with Robert Smith that would last for 57 years. Her devotion to her husband Bob and her children is best epitomized by the noble wife and industrious mother described in Proverbs 31. She had a strong faith in the Heavenly Father and was an active member of the Timothy Lutheran Church. She played organ for Church Service, for Bethany Lutheran Home, and for Cutler-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home for many years. Joanne was dearly loved and will be missed by her family and friends. VISITATION with the family is on Monday, February 22, 6-8pm, followed by a PRAYER SERVICE at 8pm, all at Timothy Lutheran Church. FUNERAL SERVICE will be conducted on Tuesday, February 23, at 10am at Timothy Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Chapel and Reception Center at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Timothy Lutheran Church, Breast Cancer Association, or Concordia University Nebraska.
