Nelsen, George T. Age 92 Passed away peacefully on February 10, 2016, in Sioux Falls, SD. George is survived by his companion, Gunnvor Melum; his children, Roger (Stephanie) of Traverse City, MI, Gayle (Bill McCracken) of Milwaukie, OR, and Paul (Kathi) of Edgemont, SD; brother Harvey (Nancy) of Lutz, FL; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lily, his wife Mary of 53 years and his sisters, Laura and Frances. George was raised in Omaha, NE and lived his last 58 years in Sioux Falls where he worked for Northwestern Bell and in the restaurant business. George became an avid storyteller to entertain his grandchildren and expanded this gift professionally as "Grandpa from Dakota". He received several national awards for his exemplary leadership and significant contributions to his community through storytelling.Contributions in George's memory can be made to the Deacon's Fund at the First Presbyterian Church, 2300 S.
