Gunter, David Anthony

Of Imperial, MO passed away peacefully with the Anointing of the Holy Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in his home surrounded by family. David touched the lives of family, friends and total strangers with this smile and generosity while maintaining his trademark sense of humor to the very end. David was born on November 28, 1938 and is survived by his living wife of 46 years Betty Gunter (nee Hilgert); beloved father of Jennifer (Louie) Solnosky and Amy (Kevin) Nestor; loving grandfather to Christina and Gavin Solnosky; beloved brother of Mary Beth (Tom) Mickley, Roger (Diann) Vincent, Douglas (Donna) Vincent and the late James (survived by Evelyn) Gunter, Dorothy (Norman) McCullough and Eugene Gunter; our cherished brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many. During his life, David was very active in civic and church activities. He was a founding member of the Springdale Volunteer Fire Department and served the community as a volunteer fireman for 20 years. David also volunteered for 10 years with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He was a member and active contributor to the American Legion Post 400 of Fenton, St. John's Catholic Church of Imperial and the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Imperial. David retired in 1993 from Union Pacific (MoPac) with over 39 years of service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. George Thampy and his staff as well as to Janene and Dawn of St. Anthony's Hospice for your gentle care.
