Nebraska football released no official word on Tuesday on the expected hiring of John Parrella to coach NU’s defensive line. Parrella’s hiring could be announced as early as Wednesday. Parrella, a former Husker walk-on who was an All-American at Nebraska and a 12-year NFL veteran, would replace the fired Hank Hughes.

One coach who did join NU in the last two weeks was graduate assistant Blair Tushaus, a former offensive lineman at BYU and a former tight end at Arizona. Tushaus began his career at BYU, transferred to later to Arizona, and finished his career in 2014. He was recommended for the GA job by former Nebraska defensive coordinator Charlie McBride.

The Huskers begin spring football March 5. Coach Mike Riley will likely hold his pre-spring press conference on March 2.
