The Westside school board has approved a new three-year contract for Superintendent Blane McCann that will raise his base salary by 3.5 percent.

Under the contract, McCann’s base salary will increase from $185,000 to $191,475, plus benefits.

The board also agreed to give him a $10,000 performance bonus for the 2012-13 school year, as allowed under the contract.

McCann started with the district in July 2012. He previously served as superintendent of a suburban Milwaukee school district.

His salary remains roughly in the middle of those earned by Omaha-area superintendents.
