COUNCIL BLUFFS — A Treynor High School student could face a prison sentence if convicted in a series of reported sexual assaults.

Kreighton Elwood, 17, is charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree kidnapping in connection with incidents last year, according to court affidavits.

Elwood, the son of Kevin Elwood, superintendent of Treynor Community Schools, turned himself in on Thursday.

The affidavits allege that Kreighton Elwood assaulted two female classmates in his vehicle, in each instance forcing himself on her and touching her inappropriately. The incidents occurred in November and December.

In mid-November, Elwood is alleged to have picked up a young woman at her home.

According to the affidavit:

» The young woman told authorities that after leaving her home in the truck with Elwood, he pulled over in a cornfield and “forcefully removed all of her clothes except for her underwear.”

» She told Elwood “no” several times and tried unsuccessfully to get out of the truck.

» Elwood began kissing her, intimately groping her and grabbing her hand in an attempt to force it down his pants.

In another case in late December, the affidavit says:

» Elwood and a female acquaintance got in his truck at one friend's house to go to another's. Instead of pulling away, Elwood locked the truck's doors.

» Elwood put his hands down the young woman's pants and pulled on her underwear, trying to “rip them off,” she told police.

» Elwood allegedly overpowered the young woman and put his hand up her shirt and later climbed on top of her and said he wasn't moving until she kissed him. When Elwood finally got off of her, he pulled out his genitals and grabbed her arm and forced her to touch them.

» The young woman told police she said “no” several times during the encounter.

Messages left with Elwood's attorney were not returned Thursday.

The kidnapping charge is a Class C felony and carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, Pottawattamie County Attorney Matt Wilber said. The sexual abuse charge is a Class C felony with up to 10 years in prison possible for each count.

Elwood will be arraigned on Sept. 3, with a trial on Oct. 29.

Three other females have made allegations against the teenager. Those cases are in juvenile court as misdemeanors.
