Omaha police say an 18-year-old man was shot and wounded Sunday afternoon near North 37th Street and Fowler Avenue.

Officers found the victim, Terrance Traynham, about 3 p.m., suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Traynham told police that he was retrieving items from his car when a passenger in a silver vehicle fired a weapon in his direction.

Traynham was taken to Nebraska Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police said their investigation into the shooting was continuing.
