A 28-year-old Omaha man accused of using a gun in a carjacking Friday night has been arrested.

Officer Michael Pecha, a police spokesman, said the suspect faces felony charges of robbery and false imprisonment in the incident, which occurred in a parking lot at 90th and Fort Streets.

The 27-year-old owner of the car was leaving a store about 8:45 p.m. when two men got into his 2007 Kia Spectra and forced him to drive to the area of 96th Street and Grand Avenue.

The victim told police he was beaten, choked and robbed of his cellphone and wallet. He escaped through a passenger window and was treated at the Nebraska Medical Center.

The carjackers ditched the car a few blocks away.
