Three people died in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday about 13 miles north of Grand Island.

The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and Nebraska Highway 58 in Howard County. The names of those involved have not been released, said Howard County Sheriff Tom Busch.

Sheriff’s deputies determined that a Ford F-150 pickup truck was eastbound on Highway 58 when it went through a stop sign at the intersection. The Ford collided with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was northbound on Highway 281.

Both occupants of the Chevrolet were pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the Ford was taken to a local hospital, but died there.

The driver of the Ford was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Busch said. The investigation is ongoing.
