Mark Vondrasek, a self-described “queer socialist with a working class attitude” is seeking election to the Nebraska Legislature in District 9.

Vondrasek, 28, grew up in the midtown Omaha district and works as a bicycle mechanic and field technician for Heartland BCycle.

Outside of work, Vondrasek is active in the tenants’ rights group Omaha Tenants United.

Vondrasek is a registered Democrat and works with the Nebraska Democratic Socialists of America.

Sen. Sara Howard currently represents District 9 but cannot seek reelection because of term limits.
