Dyke, Jerry Bruce May 23, 1947 - November 5, 2019 Jerry Bruce Dyke, age 72, of Neola, IA, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 5, 2019. Jerry was born May 23, 1947 in Hamburg, IA, the son of Glen and Vera Dyke. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1965. He then attended Northwest Missouri State College, studying accounting, and graduating in 1969. While in college he met Carolyn on a blind date. They were united in marriage June 14, 1969 in Sidney. To this union, they had two sons, Nicholas Bruce and Robert Glen. Jerry's professional career consisted of 29 years at Peter Kiewit in the tax department. He loved to spend time with his family. He was a "softie" with his boys and grandkids. He instilled the love for fishing in both his boys. He was a hard worker but always had time to play catch or shoot hoops with them. Many hours were spent at home coaching the ISU Cyclones or NY Yankees, but they also never called for his advice. Jerry also walked many miles with his dogs by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Suzy. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Neola; his boys, Nick of Carson, IA; and Rob and his wife Jen (Slovak) of New York, NY; his grandchildren, Kaylee, Avery, and Brady Dyke of Carson; his brother, Dean Dyke (Sue) of Sidney; sisters-in-laws, Donna Jetter of Ames, IA; and Karen (Gary) Elliott of Boone, IA; Aunt Gladys Dugger of Clarinda, IA; numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Keiter, Jacob Frank April 5, 1933 - November 5, 2019 Jacob Frank Keiter, age 86, of Hartington, NE, died on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, after being in an auto accident on Monday. Jacob was born on April 5, 1933 to Frank and Katherine (Sohm) Keiter in Hartington, NE. He graduated from the eighth grade at Holy Trinity in Hartington. Jacob began farming with his dad and brother, Tony, and continued to farm for the rest of his life. Jacob raised grain, livestock and even milked cows when he was first married. He married Darlene Berneice Fischer on April 3, 1961 in Hartington, NE. Jacob also drove a truck for Fischer Brothers for many years. Jacob was married for 58 years and for 56 years he and Darlene held an hour of perpetual adoration at Holy Trinity church on Friday nights at 10pm, rarely ever missing. His farming equipment was red and he loved to drive his Ford pickup. Maggie, his dog, was at his side constantly, even riding in the truck with him. Jacob is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Hartington; two sons, Rev. Jim Keiter of Fordyce, NE; Ken (Kayla) Keiter of Hartington; three grandchildren, Judd (Lauren) Keiter, Kendra and Kinzey Keiter; one great-granddaughter, Joanna; brother, Anthony (Tony) Keiter of Hartington; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and Fischer in-laws. Mattox, Gilbert B. "Gil" May 22, 1947 - October 31, 2019 Gil, son of the late Bill and Marie Mattox, passed away at the Florence Home on Wednesday 30 October 2019, after suffering from a long illness. He is the beloved husband of Brenda J. Mattox and loved and respected step father of Connie(Ed) Campbell, Diana Thomas, and Tracy Sporing Ravinski. All of his grandchildren cherished his presence and loved being around him. His nieces Angela(Judy) Lombana, Susan Rubes, and Karen(Marla) Giessinger were in his life from birth and nephews, Patrick Meade and Jimmy Barnard, also respected and loved their Uncle Gilbert. He also had many extended family members and friends who knew Gil to be the great person that he was. He will be sorely missed by his longtime (60 years) friend and Navy buddy, Calvin (Linda, Gil's cousin) Vondra. Gil had many acquaintances and friends in Omaha, from his days of dancing his feet sore at Bushwackers in Ralston, where Brenda and Gilbert were married in the 90s. Wood, William Herbert "Bert" 1942 - 2019 William Herbert "Bert" Wood passed away on October 27, 2019 in Marietta, GA, due to complications from Parkinson's disease. He was born July 30, 1942 in Milford, DE, to William Edward Wood and Catherine Campbell Crawford Wood. He graduated from Wyoming High School in Wyoming, OH. He then attended Earlham College where he met his first wife, Judith Peterson Wood. He also attended graduate school at Ohio State University School of Dentistry and University of Iowa. He was a Captain in US Army. He lived in Slidell, LA; New Orleans, LA; Council Bluffs, IA; Pursical, Costa Rica; and Marietta, GA. Dr. Wood was a skillful and compassionate oral surgeon and professor (Louisiana State University School of Dentistry) who cared deeply about improving the lives of his patients. He was also a consummate learner and teacher. Bert is survived by his wife, Marcel G.; daughter, Marcy B. (Kristin Gunckel); son, Peter W.
