COUNCIL BLUFFS — A big crowd is expected at tonight's City Council meeting here.

At issue is the now-vacant Gunn School on North Broadway and how that property should be developed.

Omaha-based Seldin Co. wants to renovate and expand the structure for apartments for the elderly.

Neighbors, however, are saying, "Not so fast."

The council will hold a public hearing on the matter, specifically the request to rezone the property at 1735 N. Broadway to make the project happen. Seldin has requested that the area's zoning be changed to R-3 low-density multifamily from its current R-1 single-family designation.

The project calls for the renovation of the existing school into 16 apartments and the construction of an additional 30 units.
