A Lincoln woman died in a hospital after the car in which she was a passenger crashed early Saturday in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department identified the sole passenger as 20-year-old Jasmyn Chalk and the driver as 22-year-old Deja Webster of Lincoln.

Police were called to the scene about 3:41 a.m. after Webster, who was going south on 27th Street, crossed to the northbound side before hitting a tree.

Both were taken to Bryan Medical Center’s west campus, where Chalk later died from her injuries. Webster was in critical condition Saturday.

The accident remains under investigation.
