Priest ball

The Rev. Dave Korth, now at Sacred Heart Church in Omaha, rips a line drive in 2016. This year’s Lincoln vs. Omaha ballgame will be Sunday.

Heaven only knows who will emerge victorious when the priests from the Diocese of Lincoln play the fathers from the Archdiocese of Omaha at Werner Park.

The I-80 Collar Series will continue Sunday at the home of the Omaha Storm Chasers, near Nebraska Highway 370 and 126th Street. Joe Bober, a spokesman for the Knights of Columbus, said the series is in its fifth year.

“It will be a good time for area families to come out and support our priests,” Bober said. “The game is a lot of fun. We’re hoping to have some former pro baseball and football players there to umpire.”

All proceeds from the I-80 Collar Series will assist in promoting vocations and religious life in the Diocese of Lincoln and Archdiocese of Omaha. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the game will start at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $10, with children 3 and under free. Family packs are available for $30. Tickets can be purchased through the Werner Park box office at 402-738-5100; Gloria Deo stores in Lincoln and Omaha; and Cosgraves in Omaha.

Priests, seminarians and religious sisters/brothers will be admitted free. All people must have a ticket, even those attending for free.
