Humphrey Crash

A Nebraska State Trooper vehicle sits in front of a wreck at the intersection of Highways 81 and 91 outside of Humphrey on Tuesday morning. The crash injured nine people, including eight children.

A two-car wreck outside of Humphrey sent eight children and one woman to the hospital Tuesday morning.

Amy Jackson of Columbus was traveling north on Highway 81 with her eight children when a semitrailer truck traveling west on Highway 91 pulled in front of her van about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The van collided with the semi, just behind its driver’s side door.

Jackson and seven of her children were transported to Columbus Community Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Jackson’s other child, an 8-year-old, was transported by helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in Omaha, then transferred to Children’s Hospital & Medical Center.

All of Jackson’s children, who ranged in age from 2 to 15, were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The driver of the semi, Duane Seamann of Spalding, was not injured.
