A 10-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool in Omaha on Thursday, the Omaha Police Department said. William Chapman would have turned 11 in July.

The child lived at a home at 314 Woolworth Ave. The police report on the incident indicates that several family members were there at the time.

Paramedics and police officers were called about 12:25 p.m. An ambulance took William to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
