A new Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles office will open next week near 56th Street and Ames Avenue, replacing the longtime Florence neighborhood location.

License renewals and address changes will be handled starting Wednesday, June 12, at the new office, at 4606 N. 56th St. Those services already are in place at the Metro South location in Bellevue.

Douglas County Treasurer’s Office services, such as vehicle titling and registration, will continue to be offered in Florence at 7414 N. 30th St. Driver’s license service no longer will be offered there, however, as of 4 p.m. Thursday.

Customers will be able to complete all of the standard processes at the new 56th and Ames location, with the exception of written and driving tests. Driver’s license testing still will be available at 2918 N. 108th St. and 5730 S. 144th St. in Omaha and 4502 Maass Road in Bellevue. A new location is expected to open in spring 2020 at 168th Street and West Dodge Road.

“For customers needing to take a drive test, the best way to guarantee an appointment is to book one online for one of our three locations in Omaha,” said Sara O’Rourke, administrator of the Driver Licensing Services Division. “Our website offers a large number of other services as well, including the ability to update an address or renew a license.”

Online appointment services for Lincoln and Omaha offices can be found at dmv.nebraska.gov.
