Don Kelly

Two Sarpy County Board members were re-elected to leadership positions at the board’s meeting Tuesday.

Members voted for Don Kelly to serve a fourth consecutive term as chairman. First elected to the board in 2013, Kelly represents District 1, which covers the southeast corner of the county. His term expires in December 2020.

Jim Warren was elected as vice chairman, a position he has held since 2017. He represents District 5 in western Sarpy County.

“This year is going to be critical to the future of Sarpy County, and we’re on the precipice of a number of important decisions,” Kelly said in a statement.

Kelly said the board’s major 2019 initiatives include: financing and construction of a wastewater system in the southern portion of the county; addressing the need for a new jail; developing partnerships to provide more comprehensive mental health services; and investing resources on arterial roads and infrastructure projects that will support growth and economic development.
