A 23-year-old Omaha man died Sunday night after a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in which his car vaulted over a concrete barrier and landed on an embankment.

Ivan Pena, who had to be cut out of the car, was taken in critical condition to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy about 10:45 p.m., police said. Pena later died at the hospital.

Investigators determined that Pena was driving west in a 2004 BMW 325 XI on I-80 near the I Street off-ramp when the car veered onto the shoulder of the road and went over a barrier.
