KEARNEY, Neb. — The Archway will be closed Feb. 20-26 for systems upgrades.

Marketing coordinator Jace Robinson said visitor attendance during February is low compared with other months, so he doesn’t believe that the attraction’s overall attendance numbers will be affected.

The main project will be centralizing controls for the exhibit’s audio and light show.

Staff members now must flip breakers and switches on three floors to start the show.

Once the show is started, it runs on an automatic loop until closing time.

“The project is really big,” Robinson said. “Hopefully, we’ll get it done in six days.”

The gift shop’s point-of-sale system is also scheduled to be upgraded.

Staff and volunteers also will use the closure to clean and prepare the Archway for the busier spring season.

The Archway resumes normal operating hours Feb. 27.
