Traffic at a standstill

Traffic at the L Street on-ramp to Interstate 80 was not moving when this photo was taken in November.

The good news for Omaha drivers Tuesday was that traffic no longer needs to use the L Street exit to get to eastbound Interstate 80.

The L Street ramp had been closed for I-80 bridge repairs since May 28, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. The loop ramp leading from eastbound L Street to the I-80 collector road also was expected to reopen, the department said.

The I Street loop ramp heading to the I-80 collector road remains closed until at least Wednesday morning. Northbound I-680 continues to be one lane exiting at West Center Road, and backups are still likely in that area, the department said.

There still is no access to I-680 from L or I Streets. Work in that area is expected to continue for two months.
