Ready to celebrate the Fourth of July? Here is a sampling of local Independence Day celebrations.
A Fourth of July-themed run that includes swag (designer shirt and custom medal), chip-timing, free photos, costumes, post-race food and activities.

Trendwood Toppers Celebration
A daylong celebration featuring a Yankee Doodle Parade, flag-raising basketball tournament, cakewalk and dinner.
When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday
Where: Trendwood, 1246 S. 138th St.
Fourth of July Parade
A traditional children’s parade along J.E. George Boulevard, ending at the baseball diamond in Memorial Park. A contest will be held for the best-decorated bike, best-decorated stroller or tricycle, best float and best-dressed pet.
When: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday
Where: J.E. George Boulevard and Nicholas Street
Free Entry for Active-duty Military and Veterans at Fun-Plex
All active-duty military members and veterans receive free admission on Independence Day. Immediate family members receive $6 off the general admission and $4 off the junior/senior admission in the same transaction.
When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday

Fort Robinson State Park’s Annual Fourth of July Barbecue
The Western and Wildlife Art Show and other Fort Robinson activities will also be available. Park entry permit required.
When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday
Where: Fort Robinson State Park, 3200 Highway 20, Crawford, Nebraska
59th Annual Ralston Independence Day Celebration
Music, food, fireworks and Nebraska’s biggest parade. The parade’s theme is “Celebrating Small Town America” and will draw an estimated 42,000 people.
When: 1 to 10 p.m. Thursday
Where: Ralston; parade starts at 80th and Highland Streets and ends at 7400 Main St.
Werner Park Fireworks
Werner Park’s largest fireworks show of the season. The Omaha Storm Chasers will take on the Nashville Sounds at 7:05. The fireworks show will follow.
When: 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday
Where: Werner Park; 12356 Ballpark Way, Papillion
Food Truck Friday and Fireworks
This free family event includes food trucks and a spot to watch the Werner Park fireworks. No alcohol onsite.
When: 5 to 9 p.m. Friday
Where: Just north of 132nd Street and Highway 370
