A Council Bluffs man died Tuesday evening when a pickup truck and a semitrailer truck collided on Interstate 29 near Pacific Junction, Iowa.

The pickup driver, Vincent Flanagan, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The driver of the semi, Noelio Orihuela, 63, of Bennett, Colorado, was not injured.

Investigators determined that the semi was heading north in the southbound lanes of a construction zone just south of Pacific Junction at 5:47 p.m. When the semi attempted to move over into the northbound lanes at the crossover point, it collided with Flanagan’s northbound pickup truck.

The pickup truck rolled over and came to a rest on its top.

The crash remains under investigation.
