Waste Management will not be collecting Omahans’ recyclable waste Monday or Tuesday, the city’s Public Works Department announced Saturday.

The city had already suspended recycling collection for Friday and Saturday.

The suspended service only affects recyclables.

Waste Management has been dealing with more yard waste and garbage after a recent hailstorm, Public Works said. And heavy rains over a 10-day span have soaked the landfill, slowing garbage trucks down, the department said in a press release.

The company has brought in extra staff to deal with the added work load.

Residents can sign up for e-mail notifications of waste collection holidays or service delays at join.wasteline.org. Information also is available on the city's solid waste website at wasteline.org or on Facebook at facebook.com/wasteline.
