LINCOLN — Officials announced Thursday that Ron Zychowski will be taking the helm at PromiseShip, a private nonprofit that provides child welfare case management and services in the Omaha area.

Zychowski, who has been senior director of executive operations at PromiseShip, will take over for David Newell, the organization’s president and chief executive officer. Newell is stepping down for a new opportunity in the nonprofit sector to be announced later. His last day will be May 24.

PromiseShip, formerly the Nebraska Families Collaborative, was created by Boys Town and other Omaha-area organizations in 2009 to bid for a state child welfare contract. The organization is the last survivor of the state’s attempt to privatize child welfare case management statewide.
