Gretna City Council takes step to regulate fireworks

  • 0

The Gretna City Council has given first-round approval to an ordinance that eliminates July 5 and Jan. 1 from the days when fireworks are permitted.

The council also approved 10 a.m. as the earliest hour for fireworks. Originally, 1 p.m. was proposed as the start time.

The ordinance says permissible fireworks can be discharged from June 25 through July 4 and Dec. 29 through Dec. 31 and only from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. On July 4 and Dec. 31, fireworks can be discharged until midnight.
