This will be the last week for the Salvation Army’s disaster relief center in Omaha, at 84th Street and West Center Road.

The Salvation Army will wind down its flood relief operations in Omaha so it can focus on the areas around Omaha where the greatest need remains — in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, and Sarpy/Cass Counties, Nebraska.

As a result, this will be the last week that a disaster relief center will be open at the former Canfields sporting good store, 84th Street and West Center Road, in Omaha.

The following two disaster relief sites will remain open:

» Sarpy and Cass Counties: Former J.C. Penney store in the Southroads Mall, 1001 Fort Crook Road.

» Pottawattamie County: 715 N. 16th St., Council Bluffs.

Major Greg Thompson, divisional commander, said more people are stopping by the latter two locations to pick up flood-relief items, and fewer people are stopping by the Omaha site.
