The person killed in a car crash east of Lake Manawa on Thursday has been identified.

Police identified the victim as 21-year-old Aryka Davis of Council Bluffs. However, Davis identified himself as Benji, according to two friends and his own Facebook page.

According to Council Bluffs police, Davis was traveling southbound on East Manawa Drive about 6 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve and slid sideways into oncoming traffic. A northbound sport utility vehicle then struck Davis’ vehicle.

Officers provided first aid and used a defibrillator on Davis, who later died at a hospital. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
