CLARINDA, Iowa — A new Page County 911 call center will be built in Clarinda.

The Page County Board voted unanimously Tuesday to build on a vacant lot in Clarinda rather than a site at the Page County landfill.

A Kansas City-area architectural firm estimated land development costs at $41,455 for the Clarinda site near the Sheriff’s Office. Developing the landfill site would have cost $76,350.

Land development includes utility installation, grading, drainage and parking.

The vacant lot in Clarinda is owned by the county. The landfill board would have donated the land.

The architectural firm did not detail the total cost or schedule for construction of the 911 center.
