A 57-year-old Homer, Neb., woman was killed Sunday in a three-vehicle crash in northeast Nebraska.

According to authorities, Patricia Oldenburg was killed when a vehicle driven by Heather Reisdorph, 27, of Sioux City, Iowa, which was northbound on U.S. Highway 77 in Dakota County, rear-ended Oldenburg's vehicle, which was in the roadway waiting to turn west off the highway.

Oldenburg's vehicle was sent sliding, said Dakota County Sheriff Chris Kleinberg, and eventually ended up in the southbound lane of Highway 77 facing south. Oldenburg's vehicle was then rear-ended by another vehicle, driven by Allina White, 20, of Winnebago, Neb., sending Oldenburg's vehicle into the west ditch just off Highway 77, he said.

Oldenburg died at a hospital because of her injuries.

Kleinberg said a 3-year-old, in a car seat belted in behind Oldenburg, and an 8-year-old in a booster seat, belted on the passenger side back seat, were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
