Homeowner's warning shot thwarts burglary attempt

Michael Robinson, 49, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

Omaha police arrested a 49-year-old man in a failed home invasion that was thwarted by a homeowner's warning shot.

The attempted home burglary occurred about 11:30 p.m. Monday near 56th and Spring Streets.

Officers determined that Michael Robinson had forced his way into the house while the home's two residents were inside. One of the residents discharged a firearm as a warning, which caused Robinson to flee from the house.

Police, with help from a K-9 unit, found Robinson nearby. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
