A charge of illegal transfer of a firearm was dropped last month against former Gretna City Administrator Colleen Lawry as part of a plea deal in her theft of city funds.

Sarpy County Attorney Lee Polikov said Sunday that the charge of transfer of a firearm without a certificate was dropped Dec. 11 in exchange for Lawry pleading no contest a week earlier to three misdemeanor charges, including two for theft. She is serving a six-month jail sentence.

Prosecutors filed the gun charge after they learned that Lawry had received a gun from former Bellevue Police Chief John Stacey last summer without having proper documentation. A trial for Stacey is scheduled Feb. 20 in Sarpy County on a charge of illegally loaning a gun to Lawry.

Polikov said Lawry may be called as a witness in the Stacey trial but she has yet to be subpoenaed.
