There is lots to do this weekend. We recommend:
Educational program: Learn more about Neligh Mills, the only 19th century flour mill in Nebraska with its original milling equipment. The Elkhorn Valley Museum in Norfolk will host a talk with Neligh Mills Historic Site supervisor Don “Harv” Ofe at 2 p.m. Saturday. He will discuss how to turn wheat into flour. Robots: Robots galore move into the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum Saturday. Students in grades K-12 as well as math and science teachers will be there for the CEENBoT Robotics Showcase and FIRST Lego League competitions. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m. The events are included in museum admission.
Chili crawl: Sample chili at Midtown Crossing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Black Oak Grill, Brix, CRAVE and others will be offering chili samples. Samples are $3 each with $1 benefiting Project Harmony. Vote for your favorite by picking up a menu and voting slip at Chicago Dawg House or Cantina Laredo.
Black history: The Union Pacific Railroad Museum, 200 Pearl St. in Council Bluffs, will share a presentation about the contributions of African-Americans to the National Parks System and railroads from 1 to 3 p.m. today Saturday.
Birthday party: Celebrate author Bess Streeter Aldrich’s 135th birthday from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Cake and punch will be offered after a tour of Aldrich’s Elmwood, Nebraska, home. The Bess Streeter Aldrich House is at 204 E. F St. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for ages 6 to 11.
